What is Recreational Vehicles Insurance?

This form of insurance protects towable and motorized recreational vehicles. Since RVs are designed for long-distance travel, they are a lot more likely to get into trouble compared to ordinary passenger cars. This type of insurance gives RV owners enough money to make repairs, restorations and pay for other expenses.

Who it is For

Recreational vehicles insurance covers several classes of motor homes including Class A, Class B and Class C. This insurance is also valid on popular RVs that could be hauled such as pop-up campers, travel trailers, fifth-wheelers and truck campers. People who want to insure their RVs might need to obtain a commercial driver’s license in order to buy appropriate coverage as mandated by local laws and regulations.

How it Works

Before an RV can be insured, it must be reviewed by the insurance company for an array of risk factors. The expected distance that an RV travels per month ultimately determines the insurance rates throughout the course of the coverage term. RVs that have flammable liquids and other hazardous substances on board are also considered very risky. Insurance companies charge premium rates for RVs that are in poor mechanical condition. Surely, RVs with excellent safety records and features can qualify for some discounted rates on the monthly bills.

Different Types of Coverage in Existence

Motorized RVs have to be insured with a liability policy, which gives money for medical bills compiled by injured passengers and drivers. Comprehensive and collision policies are valid on motorized and towable RVs. Such insurance plans pay for mechanical and cosmetic repairs. A unique clause of comprehensive insurance includes payment for damage that results from fire, vandalism and encounters with animals. Roadside assistance is another important coverage for RVs that are driven to remote locations.

Major Benefits

A recreational vehicle can be expensive to operate, maintain and repair. Fortunately, insurance for recreational vehicles provides plenty of money to cover major expenses that result from accidents and incidents on or off the road. Insured RVs that are parked at camping sites are protected against numerous common threats including damage by animals and extreme weather.
